Choral Singing - A Training and Refinement course for Choral Conductors

In a partnership with the Secretariat of Education of the State of Rio de Janeiro, this project seeks to offer tools for the technical and artistic enhancement of conductors of this Secretariat since 2003, also putting them in close contact with Villa-Lobos’ ideas on Musical Education.

“Music is a basic and irreplaceable element in the spiritual formation of a people. Its function is not only in the artistic formation, but also in the acquiring of an actually socializing position. Following this concept the musical teachings were implemented in Brazil. However, to reach its real educational purpose, choral singing may never limit itself to a public exhibition of musical abilities present, in a bigger or smaller degree, in children’s voice. It must be present in a daily basis, bringing the civic feeling, solidarity and discipline to the school where it’s present.”

Canto da Nossa Terra (Song of Our Land)

Encounters of school chorales, with periodic presentations in the acoustic shell, with the objectives of:

Continuing the music education work developed by Heitor Villa-Lobos through encouraging and supporting choral singing in schools;
Publicizing choral works through exchanges between public and private schools of Rio de Janeiro.

Musical Encounters Among Schools

A project to support musical education project developed in the classroom by students and teachers who participate in our educational activities during the school year.
